Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary

Walk among unique native animals and explore significant Aboriginal sites, including a giant emu carving, in the Australian Walkabout Wildlife Park, near Sydney. You can stay the night in self-contained cabins in the eucalypt forest, which is called ‘the bush’ in Australia.

More than 180 species of Australian animals roam free in the wildlife park, on the Central Coast and an hour from Sydney by car. Rangers lead tours of the park and encounters with emus, kangaroos, koalas, dingoes, echidnas and Tasmanian devils.

You can even pat a python. Rangers give talks on bush foods or bush tucker and medicines, and will show you how to throw a boomerang. You’ll also experience feeding time for animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wombats and flying foxes.

The park’s cabins are fully equipped. A breakfast basket is delivered each morning. Reservations are required for evening nocturnal tours and the overnight experience. The park is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
